Scallops at Aubrey Doyle, which I’ve enjoyed before.

Brunch at Carluccio’s in Kensington.

Picking up some magazines from My Fulham News – one of the only few newsagents left in Chelsea and where I bought my first issues of Just 17 and Smash Hits. These guys are local legends!

Today’s brunch from my fave chef, the bf!

Recently I returned to the Aubrey Doyle bar and restaurant, which is located in The Kensington Hotel. Since I last visited, there has been a change of menu which I was keen to try but before doing so, I first enjoyed sipping cocktails made by the wonderful Alessandro, whilst sitting at the bar.

After a couple of hours, we were led into the restaurant which I still really love. The green leather upholstered seats and the framed photos of legends I admire make this dining room such a stylish treat.

For starters, we enjoyed the rabbit terrine.

And smoked salmon starter.

As well as the scallops.

For main, we ordered the Chateaubriand which was cooked over 72 hours and then pan fried. So succulent, it was divine!

The triple cooked chips were amazing too and I loved the almond flakes touch to the broccoli.

And for dessert, the bf and I enjoyed the chocolate fondant and …

The bread and butter pudding …

At the end, we had just about room to try the cheeseboard.

The Aubrey Doyle is quite an unassuming gem in the area. When you walk through the hotel lobby, taking a left and then a right into the bar – you are greeted with a sumptuous interior.  But as much as the aesthetics are impressive, so are the friendly staff who are genuinely lovely people. I also love coming here because you know you are always going to be welcomed with a smile and a really good cocktail.
