There’s nothing I like better than getting behind a bar and shaking up my own cocktail. It’s the sign of a good party – even if I don’t know what I’m doing, ha!
So you can imagine my delight when I was invited to a cocktail-making masterclass at Mahiki: Mayfair’s Tiki club and a haven for delicious tropical concoctions.
Before the evening kicked off, we enjoyed some cocktails and canapés in the bar.
Aren’t these pretty? I have a thing for cocktail umbrellas and maraschino cherries.
Once downstairs, we had to choose our favourite cocktail to make up. At first I picked a Dirty Martini and then I thought, ‘duh, maybe I should remember where I am. So I decided to go for a Mai Thai, my favourite tropical tipple.
And under the guidance of this lovely barman I managed to pour in the right ingredients before shaking them up.
Me trying … It’s so much harder than it looks!
This feels like a bit of a coming out post with the first photo of me on my blog (the eyelashes pics don’t count) – and how appropriate. My most populated blog category seems to be Cocktails. Oops. Well at least you know what I look like now.
And let me introduce you to another cocktail-loving local: Fiona aka Kensington Doll blogger, who made a Tom Collins which was very good.
Have you also checked out the VIP room at Mahiki: a motel room with its own double bed and shower room where you can sing karaoke? There’s also a mini bar, which you can hire for 2 hours at a time. Let me loose on that please!
Unfortunately I couldn’t stay all night because I had a birthday party to go to. But it was definitely a lot of yummy fun. Thank you so much Mahiki. See you again soon!
