So this weekend was a bit of a mixed bag. Having spent yesterday in the country, I dashed back to London this morning to hit the gym before heading to Rumstock at Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen at Old Street. It was all about burning the calories for a guilt-free afternoon of rum cocktails and new foodie experiences.
For Rumstock we had seven run cocktails to taste (the eighth hadn’t turned up) and we had to vote for our favourite ones.
The cocktails came from London Cocktail Club and Bacaradi rum:
Danger of Death and Doorly’s rum:
Wax Jambu and El Dorado rum:
Upstairs at The Ten Bells and Gosling’s rum – which was the overall winner! And great thing too because all winnings are supposed to be going to UNICEF.
Hawksmoor and Havana Club 3YO rum:
Mahiki and Plantation 3 Stars rum:
All Star Team and a secret rum, which was served with a coconut water, bitters and spices chaser:
There was also plenty of food, which I had a taste of:
And it was also great to see a few chefs in amongst the crowd:
It was so great to see Fred at Rumstock. I had to apologise for not making it back to the Admiral Codrington before Fred had left but it sounds like he is keeping busy and there will be plenty more opportunities to introduce the bf to one of his gorgeous burgers!
So, which rum cocktail did I vote for? I have to admit none. I have the compulsive habit of getting involved in random conversations with random folks – and as a result losing track of time. But I do approve of the winner and of Mahiki’s popularity. I also really enjoyed Wax Jambu’s rum cocktail with the cherry (they were serving two cocktails).
All in all it was a great afternoon, especially with the tunes playing! Great vibes indeed!
